Treatment of offendeers taken into consideration the reasons for the crime.

What is the importance of justice for the victim?
make them feel safe, make it seem fair that the person has been punished for the crime. To make victim feel has been ‘paid’ for the crime (especially if envolves giving back to society).
why is justice important for christians?
God seeems to be just, should act in same way. Jesus taught to treatr everyone fairly, also treat others as you would like to be treated. “Do to others as you would have them do to you” (Luke 6:31). Churches teach importance of justice. God will judge people after death, will forgive those who are truly sorry for crimes. Bible teraches God wants people to act justly “And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8).
What are non-religious views of justice?
Humanists and athiests agree justice is important. Seems fair to them that those who do wrong sould be punished.

Agree, but would add a key reason is that it is what God intended.

Christian s teaches is part of human nature-very first people disobeyed God. Crimes are sins, not only disobeying God’s wishes, also illegal.

Christians feel victims of crimes need to be cared for, everyone has responsibility to make world fair place. Causes of crime: poverty, upbringing, racism, politics and drugs.
What are christian beliefs and teachings about crime?
Believe bible teaches difference between right and wrong, ignoring God’s will leads to disaster. E.g. 10 commandments thou shal not kill. Believe should forginve sins of others in same way God forgives them from their sins. Key ideas in Lord’s prayer. Look at example of Jesus, taught importance of forgiveness.

John 8:3-7, a woman acussed of adultery is brought to Jesus and asked if she will be stoned. He replies “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her”.
What is the purpose of prision fellowship to end crime?
work to support criminals while in prision, includes volunteers from local Chruches. Donate money to provide support. Organises prayer groups and victim-awarness programmes (prisioners understand how crimes are harmful). Support families of prisioners so festivals e.g. Christmas can be shared. Letter-writing programmes to prisioners so don’t feel alone.
How does street pastors reduce crime?
Groups of trained volunteers who work on streets. Often seen on Friday and Saturday nights providing support and guidence to those in crisis or needing help, build community relationships and work for safer streets. Work in schools and educational establishments to provide support for youth. Attent and provide support and care where crisis has occured-response pastors.

Jesus used parable to teach how to treat others. This parable explains God will judge people on whether they helped those in need. Those who help others will be rewarded, those who don’t will be punished. “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothes and sisters of mine, you did for me”. (Matthew 25:40).

Teach God gives humans free will-choice of to do good or bad. Humans responsible for own actions, some suffer due to actions of others. Some christians believe suffering is test of faith, others believe suffering has purpose in life, even if humans don’t understand it.

Athesists:argue all-loving powerful God wouldn’t let his creation suffer.
Humanists:don’t accept evil and suffering is test or punishment or part of divine plan. believe humans have degree of choice in lives and must take some responsibility for ‘evil’ e.g. war, famine and poverty. Believe some suffer through no fault of own e.g. natural causes, illness or floods.

Suffering has purpose-even if don’t understand it. God gave humans free will-choose good or evil. Humans responsible for consequences of own actions. Need to follow Jesus’ teachings in Bible e.g. parable of sheeps and the goats, to understand why people suffer.

Christians believe punishment should follow crime. Helps to learn that their behaviour is wrong-gives a chance to reform. God commands people to follow laws of country are in. If laws are wrong, should be challanged.

In Bible God is presented as God of Justice. Punishments should be applied to achieve justice. Alsio taught importance of forgivness.
