- Artificial fibre that has tremendous toughness and strength.
- strong and light.
- used in bullet proof vests, puncture resistant tyres.

- shaped into jewellery.
- heated until the particles fuse and the binding material (clay) is burnt off.
- 10 mins heat at 700oc

A
- several pieces of timber glued together
- strong, composite components used in buildings bridges and other structures
- careful laminating allows the natural defects in timber to be almost eliminated
- better strength to weight ratio than steel
- can be shaped easily with low energy
- sustainable
- cross laminated timber (CLT), sheet based, strength in both directions, can be used for more imaginative designs
