Q

production using fibre glass (lay-up procedure)

A
  • wax applied as a mould release.
  • gel coat is applied to provide colour.
  • fibre glass, resin + catalyst is applied in layers and rolled out.
  • after curing, the part removed from the mould. Excess material is trimmed and it is ready for assembly.

Q

composite material safety

A
  • skin irritation due to styrene
  • peroxide in catalyst causes damage when in contact with the eyes
  • toxic gasses are given off
  • fibres cause skin irritation
  • dust generated when finishing
