How do we know how much timber will be worth in the future?
We can only use the current price of timber along with site index to make a calculation.
What is rotation?
Time it takes for timber to grow to a level where it is economically viable to harvest
How is MAI caculated?
Volume of wood divided by area that wood is on per year.
What is site index?
A numerical value of site productivity based on height. site index 37 would be 37 m tall in fifty years
What is culmination?
The cease of the grand period of growth where trees no longer increase in volume as quickly.
Which act specifies how and when the AAC is to be calculated?
The Forest Act
What does the “reforestation period” refer to?
The time it takes a forest to become re established on the area following harvest.

How often does AAC have to be calculated?
Every 10 years for area based tenures and timber supply areas
