有一位画家很喜欢开玩笑。
Yǒuyī wèi huàjiā hěn xǐhuān kāiwánxiào.
There is a painter who likes to joke very much.
朋友(请/让/叫)他画一幅画,画家同意了。
Péngyǒu (qǐng/ràng/jiào) tā huà yī fú huà, huàjiā tóngyìle. A friend (please/let/call) he paints a picture, and the artist agrees.
一回到自己家,他就把件事忘了。
Yī huí dào zìjǐ jiā, tā jiù bǎ jiàn shì wàngle.
As soon as he got home, he forgot about it.
过了一个月,那位朋友来取画儿, 画家才想 起来.
Guòle yīgè yuè, nà wèi péngyǒu lái qǔ huà er, huàjiā cái xiǎng qǐlái.
After a month, the friend came to pick up the painting, and the painter remembered it.

His friend walked into the studio and took a look。
墙上只有一张很大白纸,就问:“你画的什么呀?”
Qiáng shàng zhǐyǒu yī zhāng hěn dàbái zhǐ, jiù wèn:“Nǐ huà de shénme ya?”
There was only a large piece of white paper on the wall, so I asked, “What did you draw?”
画家回答:“我画的是 牛吃草。” “草在哪儿呢?”
“草 (被 ) 牛 吃了。”
“牛呢?”
画家说:“草没了,牛还会在这儿吗?”
Huàjiā huídá:“Wǒ huà de shì niú chī cǎo.” “Cǎo zài nǎ’er ne?”
“Cǎo (bèi) niú chīle.”
“Niú ne?”
Huàjiā shuō:“Cǎo méiliǎo, niú hái huì zài zhè’er ma?”
The painter replied, “I’m painting a cow eating grass.” “Where is the grass?”
“Grass was eaten by cows.”
“Where’s the cow?”
The painter said: “If the grass is gone, will the cow still be here?”
