description- milgrams shock test
aim- to see if germans are evil and are more likely to harm others by obeying
sample- 40 American male volunteers
procedure- volunteers invited to Yale, thought it was abt effects of punishment on learning,
the ppt was instructed to give the confederate shocks up to 450v if they got an answer wrong
if they refused authority figure (researcher) would give verbal prods
e.g. you must continue for the experiments
results- many ppt showed signs of distress and tension. e.g. shaking, sweating, stuttering, seizures, many argued with researcher
obedience rate 65% (ppl who went 450v)
milligram concluded everyone is capable of obeying destructive authority figures
