Completed because of the cultural, social, spiritual meaning of action/ behavior

The role you take on (mother, daughter, wife, etc)
Formed based on societal expectations and how people, groups or populations define the social expectations

Context is both physical and social environment surround the individual
- Cultural

What are routines?
Give stability

Customs and beliefs held by society

Specifics about person, group or population

What is the social aspect of the environment?
Relationship of the person, group and population
What is rest and sleep?
Activities related to obtaining restorative sleep that supports healthy active engagement in other areas of occupation
Restful sleep is imperative for productive engagement in occupations requiring attention, judgement, motor processing and safety
Ex: rest, sleep, sleep preparation and participation
What is education?
Activities that promote exploration or personal interests and that are considered necessary for learning and participating in ones environment
Ex: formal and informal education
What is work?
Ant activity in which one engages for the purpose of gaining some remuneration including volunteer work
Ex: employment interest or pursuit, employment seeking and acquisition, job performance, preparation and adjustment for retirement, and exploration in volunteer opportunities
What is play?
Work of childhood
Play exploration and play participation
Spontaneous or organized activity of which the primary goal is to provide enjoyment or diversion
What is leisure?
Adult play
Non- obligatory activity that is intrinsically motivated and engaged in during discretionary time (time not committed to occupations such as work, self care or sleep)

Organized patterns of behavior that are characteristic and expected of an individual or a given position within a social system
Ex: used in contexts with whom the prison might engage (communities, family, peers, friends)
What is the meaning and dynamics of occupation and activity?
Simple or complex
Occupation and activities are primary methods of intervention
Done through client therapist collaboration of evaluation, intervention and outcomes
What is an occupational performance?
The act of doing and accomplishing a selected action, activity of occupation that results from the dynamic transaction among the client, context and activity
What are the demands of activities and occupations?
Required features of an activity that influences a clients engagement in an occupation
Including objects their properties, space and social demands, sequence and timing, performance skills, body function and body structures
