what are microorganisms? name the groups.
the living organisms around us which can not be seen normally is called microorganisms. there groups are bacteria, fungi, protozoa and some algae.
uses of microorganisms.
- preparation of curd, cake and bread
- turning organic waste into harmless and usable substance.
- preparation of medicines.
- increase soil fertility
- in making chess and pickles
- fermentation of dosa batter.
- for making alcohol, vinegar and wine
how is curd formed?
it is formed by the bacterium, Lactobacillus. it multiples in milk and converts in into curd.
what is fermentation. how discovered it? give examples
the process of converting sugar into alcohol. Louis Pasteur discovered fermentation in 1857. examples - idli and dosa batter
what is antibiotics and antibodies. give examples.
the medicines which kill the growth of the disease causing microbes are called antibiotics. eg streptomycin, tetracycline.
the disease carrying microbes enters our body, the body produces antibodies.
