Receiving the message and changing symbols to an understandable form
Types of Communication
Downward - coming down from higher level
Upward - going to higher level
Lateral - same level
Main principles of gender communication
Men:
- Emphasize Power
- Dominate
- Offer Solutions
- Boast
Women:
- Emphasize connection
- Criticize men for not listening
- Speak of problems to promote bonding
- Use more polite words
- Indirect tactics unless equal power
