10^2 uses which prefix?
Hecto
10^1 uses which prefix?
Deca
10^-2 uses which prefix?
Centi
10^-6 uses which prefix?
Micro
10^-3 uses which prefix?
Milli
How many micrograms are in 1 gram?
1,000,000
How many milligrams are in 1 gram?
1,000
How many micrograms are in 1 milligram?
1,000
What is the diluent?
fluid used to dilute the sample
What does the total consist of when calculating ratios?
Sample and diluent combined
If something is already diluted and you need to see the original dilution, what do you do?
Multiply by the diluent number, which is the number on the right in the ratio
If something needs to be diluted, what do you do?
Divide the original amount with the diluent number, which is the number on the right in the ratio
How do you convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?
Multiply Celsius by 1.8 and then add 32
How do you convert Fahrenheit to Celsius?
Subtract Fahrenheit by 32 and divide by 1.8
How do you convert to exponential form?
Move the decimal point to the first number between 1 and 9. Then write the 10, to the power of (?), which is how many times you moved the decimal.
What is pH defined as? Give an example.
The negative logarithm of the hydrogen ion.
Example: Ph of 7 = H+ concentration of 10^-7
What is the normal pH of blood?
7.4
What is neutral Ph?
7
How is MCV calcuated?
PCV/tRBC*10=fL
How is MCH calculated?
Hgb/tRBC*10=pg
How is MCHC calculated?
Hgb / PCV*100=g/dL
