its manufactured to a customers individuals requirements suiting small scale

what is flow
is 1 product being made continuously in large numbers (mass production) its made on an assembly line with components added at each stage
eg: cars, tv,machinery
what is process
manufactured goods which cannot be dissembled
eg: drinks especially Coca Cola
what is batch
manufacture identical products in a batch then same is done in the second batch
eg: books,bakery,newspaper

-machinery is quicks and saves£
-specialisation goes high quality products from skilled workers
-cheaper as less workers
-fast and more variety of products or goods
disadvantage:
-cost->for maintenance of machines breaking or new ones
-cant customise so can’t meet needs

batch is cheaper as flow needs a lot of machinery (small businesses most likely to chose batch)
gives variety and chose which increases sales and profits
less boring for staff leading to higher motivation reducing mistakes and increasing sakes profits and customer satisfaction
what is division of labour
is when manufacturing of a product is divided into a number of small stages
its a type of specialisation used in flow manufacturing usually

-each worker becomes very skilful at job reducing complaints and mistaking and iq
-limited training needed as tasks are usually simple
-work done faster as cost per unit is lower saving time

-goods sold lower making it more competitive

-delays/strikes haults production decreasing output + eficiency
-staff demotivated as its repetitive nature more mistakes then made or lose staff altogether

is when employees concentrate on 1 particular operation and does it all the Time
