Purpose
The purpose of the Meshed Defense is to have multiple systems providing overlapping capabilities in a layered defense IOT increase their effectiveness in the air, surface, and sub-surface theatres of warfare.
AHWCS
Advanced Harpoon Weapons Control System (AHWCS) and RGM-84L Harpoon Block II Missile
Active guidance, all-weather, over the horizon, anti-ship sea-skimming missile system.
Seaker head: 16-17 GHz.
Propulsion: Solid fuel booster, HP-10 turbojet engine.
Range: 83 nm.
Speed: 0.85 Ma.
Payload: 215 kg of Desinsitized Tritonol Explosive (80% TNT, 20% Aluminum)
Up to 8 carried, located on Port and Stbd Missile Deck.
Controlled via AHWCS Server accessed at MFWs or via laptop in Harpoon Central Processor (HCP) in FCER 3.
ESSM
Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile
A semi-active Point Defense Missile System.
Protects against air threats.
Guided by CWI provided by CEROS FCS.
Range: 30 nm
Speed: 4+ Ma.
Payload: 1870 stainless-steel fragments charged by 15kg plastic explosive.
Up to 16 carried, located on port and stbd missile deck.
Fired from MFW or FCC.

BOFORS 57mm Mk III Gun
Provides the ship with defensive capabilities against air and surface targets.
Controlled by the FCS.

Launched remotely form CMS, from Torpedo Settings Panel in Port Torpedo magazine, or from the emergency position on the launch tubes.

Raytheon Phalanx Close-In Weapons System Block 1B
Autonomous stand-alone system.
Protects the ship against hostile missiels and aircraft.
Engagement Range: 2nm.
Interception Range: 1nm.
Detection range: 5 nm.
Ammunition: 20mm tungsten rounds.
Rate of Fire: 4500 (Air), 3000 (Su)
Maximum Load: 1580 rounds
Engagement Criteria:

Canadian Towed Array Sonar System.
Long-range passive underwater detection system.
Cnosists of 20 modules each 40 ft long which contain hydrophones, towed out to 5200 ft.
Stored in the Towed Array Equipment Room.
Frequency: 0 - 1500 Hz
Range: 10nm, 30, 60, 90 nm using convergence zones.
SPS
Sonobuoy Processing System
Recieves information from deployed Sonobuoys which are underwater acoustic sensors.
Frequency: 2 to 2560 Hz.
Range: 4 nm from buoy to target.
2 nm from buoy to ship.
Can be deployed by helo.
Active or Passive buoys.
HMS
Hull Mounted Sonar
Short range active and passive SONAR set.
Frequency:

Chaff and IR flare launcher.
Defends against missile attacks by creating a large IR and radar cross section away from the ship.

Softkill Offboard Passive Decoy (SOPD) (DLF - Decoy Launcher Model F)
Passive decoy
20 sided inflatable raft covered in reflective material.
Creates a large radar cross section to seduce enemy missile.
Launchers on Port and Stbd Bridge Wings.
NIXIE
Electro-acoustic counter-measures system
Protects the ship from acoustic homing torpedos.
Towed out to 1600 ft.
Creates a noise and magnetic signature greater than the ship.
Stored and launched from Torpedo Decoy and Equipment Room.

Expendable countermeasure device
Counters torpedo threats.
Hovers at a pre-selected depth and emits a continuous acoustic signal.
