Purpose

A

The Communications Suite provides both short and long range communication, in plain or encrypted format, for both voice and data. It does this IOT allow the ship to exchange both tactical and non-tactical information with other surface, air, and land based units.

SHINCOM

A

Consists of a primary and secondary Central Switching Unit (CSU). There are 3 Main Distribution Frames which act as interfaces for SHINCOM equipment.

SHINCOM 3100 integrates tactical and administrative voice and data and interfaces with internal and external suites.

The CSUs are located in the CCR and SHINCOM Equipment Room.

CCMS

A

Consists of two UYK-507 processors: CCMS and MET.
