CCS Flashcards
Purpose
The Command and Control System integrates the ship’s sensors, weapons, and other subsystems IOT support the threat-evaluation/weapons-assign process and the Detect to Engage sequence.
Core Switches
Network backbone used to connect computers, servers, and subsystems via CAT5 Ethernet cables.
Synchronization between tactical servers.
48 Port Ethernet modules.
Fibre Switches
Connect Systems external to CMS such as computers and MCTs.
Reduce traffic on the network backbone.
NTP Server
Generates the Network Time Protocal to synchronize system operation.
Reference time recieved from the NDDS.
Tactical Servers.
Provide control and data processing for CMS 330.
Serveres 1 and 7 are system starters.
Only 6 servers required to run CMS.
Storage Arrays and Servers
Contain software modules that are executed on the tactical servers.
Store system data for use by tactical servers.
Trainer Servers
Used to operate the Shipboard Embedded Training Tool
Allows for simulations of CMS and all equipment except AHWCS
I/O Processors 1 & 3
Translate data from integrated systems into an IP/TCP format that can be used by CMS 330.
WVP B
SPS
SRD-54
RAMSES
CANTASS
DLPS
Enables CMS 330 contact data to be transmitted and recieved via LINK
DCA Audio Matrix and Server
Captures and stores audio data from SHINCOM terminals for later analysis.
I/O Processors 2 & 4
Weapons Veto Panel (Ops)
HMS
Export CGF
Provides the processing interface btween CMS 330 and the Harpoon Missile weapons.
Generates AHWCS GUI.
Integrates with SETT.
KVM Extenders and LSD Servers
Enables users to interact with CMS using keyboards and mouse.
Non-Audio/Video DCA
Captures and stores track data, system commands, and system settings from MFWs.
2 servers, a matrix, and storage array.
AREPS
Models radar performance based on environmental conidtions.
Not used.
Radar Distribution Unit
Distributes a digitized representation of radar video data called “radar paint”.
Video Switching Unit
Recieves camera video data from video sources and converts it for display over the CMS 330 network.
DCA Video
Record and playback video collected from CMS 330.
Merge video with audio.
CCS 12 is a storage array for CCS 11.
Consoles
HMIs for CMS 330.
16 MFWs, 2 FCC, 1 ESM

Situational Awareness
Controls the sensors and performs track management via the System Track manager.
Performs Threat Evaluation.
Data Correlation.
Tactical Operations
Mission planning
Dictates how CMS will react based on doctrine files
Tactical Execution
Weapons Assignemnt
Engagement planning
Kill assessment
Adaptation
Performs translation between language understood by CMS and the language understood by each individual system.
Auto Engage Mode
System provides engagement plan, approves the plan, automatically fires.
Auto Assign
System provides engagement plan
Operator must toggle the Fire Switch to engage the target.
Semi-Automatic
System suggests engagement plan
Operator approves - Auto-Assign.
Auto-Fire button - Auto Engage.
Manual
Operator manually creates plan.
System Interfaces
EPG&D
HVAC
Chilled Water
NDDS
Radar Suite
R+S
Two interconnected sets of core and fibre switches.
SABTs
Ruggedized, shock mounted cabinets.
MFWs work on role-based access system.
