Define amenorrhea.
No periods > 6 months
Define oligomenorrhea.
Menses occur at intervals of 35 days or more
What is non organic menorrhagia?
Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding

What are fibroids?
benign smooth muscle tumours
How may fibroids present?
heavy bleeding, infertility, pain, mass or asymptomatic
What condition may undergo red degeneration and when may this occur and what are symptoms?
fibroids, second half of pregnancy
Symptoms are pain, vomiting and fever
Investigation for fibroids?
Hb, US
Large, boggy, tender uterus on examination?
Adenomyosis (endometriosis where endometrial gland tissue is found in uterine WALL)
Endometriosis symptoms?
cyclical pain
heavy/frequent periods
