Memory Items Flashcards
Aborted engine start
No N1 rotation before the engine start lever is moved to idle
No oil pressure indication by the time the engine has stabilised at idle
No increase in EGT within 15 secs of raising start lever to idle
No increase in or slow increase in N1 or N2 after EGT indication
EGT rapidly approaching or exceeding start limit
Engine start lever ——— CUTOFF
Engine overheat
Auto throttle ———- Disengage
Thrust lever (affected engine) —— Confirm —— Close
If ENG OVERHEAT light stays illuminated — Go to engine fire and severe damage checklist
Engine fire or severe damage or seperation
Auto throttle (if engage) —— Disengage
Thrust lever (affected engine) —— Confirm —— Close
Engine start lever (affected engine) —— Confirm —— CUTOFF
Engine fire switch (affected engine) —— Confirm —— Pull
If the engine fire switch or ENG OVERHEAT light is illuminated
Engine fire switch (affected engine) —— Rotate to the stop and hold for 1 secs
Rapid Depressurisation
Don oxygen mask and set regulators to 100%
Establish crew communications
Pressurisation mode selector —— MAN
Outflow VALVE switch —— Hold in CLOSE until the outflow VALVE indication shows fully closed
If cabin altitude is uncontrollable
Passenger signs —— ON
PASS OXYGEN switch —— ON
Go to emergency descent checklist
Emergency descent
The pilot flying will advise the cabin crew on the PA system of impending rapid descent or confirm that the emergency PA has been made by PRAM. The PM will advise ATC and obtain the area altimeter setting.
Passenger signs —— ON
Without delay descend MSA or 10,000ft whichever is the higher
Engine start switches —— CONT
Thrust levers —— Reduce thrust to minimum or as needed for anti ice
Speed brake —— FLIGHT DETENT
Set target speed to MMO/VMO (If structural integrity is not in doubt)
Engine fire on the ground
Thrust levers (Both) —— Close
Parking brake —— Set
Advise cabin
Engine start lever (affected engine) —— CUTOFF
Engine fire switch (affected engine) —— Pull
Engine fire switch (affected engine) —— Rotate to the stop and hold for 1 sec
Emergency descent roles - PF (Captain)
- Announce emergency descent or select PA and confirm emergency is announced by PRAM
- Select lower altitude on MCP
- Select LVL CHG
- Select HDG SEL and turn 45* (if required)
- Close thrust levers manually
- Select speed brake to FLT DETENT
- Select speed to MMO/VMO or as needed
- Tidy up MCP (Select 10,000 or MSA)
- Respond to altitude calls
- Two to go - Reduce rate of descent
- One to go - Retract speed brake
WHEN LEVEL - Set speed as appropriate
- Remove oxygen mask when cabin is below 10,000 and select boom on ACP
- No one to flight deck for NITS
- Review fuel requirements
- Plan for depressurised flight
Emergency descent roles - PM (FO)
- Select engine start switches to CONT
- Set 7700 and select TA on the transponder mode selector
- Contact ATC - Mayday call, request descent, QNH and state new HDG
- Turn ON turnoff and inbound Landing lights
- Set QNH
- Monitor TCAS and descent
- Read depressurisation and emergency descent checklists
- Anticipate turbulence and icing requirements
- Call every 10,000 during descent
- Call two to go
- Call one to go
WHEN LEVEL - Verify pressurisation system and advise when cabin is below 10,000
- Remove oxygen mask and configure ACP
- Complete NNC
Runaway stabiliser
Control column — Hold firmly
Autopilot (if engaged) —— Disengage
Auto throttle (if engaged) —— Disengage
Control column and thrust levers —— Control aircraft pitch and airspeed
Main electric stabiliser trim —— Reduce control column forces
- If runaway stops after autopilot is disengaged —— Do not re-engage
- If runaway continues after the autopilot is disengaged —— STAB TRIM cutout switches CUTOUT
If the runaway stabiliser still continues—— Stabiliser trim wheel grasp and hold
Airspeed unreliable
Autopilot (if engaged) —— Disengage
Auto throttle (if engaged) —— Disengage
F/D switches (both) —— OFF
Set the following pitch attitude and thrust —
- Flaps extended 10* and 80%
- Flaps up 4* and 75%
Stall recovery - PF
Hold control column firmly
Disengage autopilot and auto throttle
Smoothly apply nose down attitude to reduce Angle of Attack until Buffett or stick shaker stop
Continue the recovery
Roll in the shortest direction to wings level
Advance the thrust levers as necessary
Retract the speed brakes
Do not change config unless at liftoff the falls are up call for F1
Complete the recovery
Check airspeed and thrust
Establish pitch attitude
Return to the desired flight path
Re engage automatics
Stall recovery - PM
Monitor altitude and airspeed
Verify actions have been done and call omissions
Call out any trend towards terrain
Set flap lever as required
RTO - CPT
Close thrust levers while disengaging auto throttle
Apply Max manual braking or verify operation of RTO brakes
Raise the speed brake
Apply Max reverse thrust
Set parking brake
RTO - FO
Note brakes on speed
Call speed brake up or not up
Call reverse thrust normal or abnormal indications
Verify your actions and call any omissions
Call 100,80,60kts, runway distance remaining
Call auto brake disarm
When the aircraft has come to a stop set flap 40
Inform ATC of reject
GPWS warning PULL UP - PF
Disengage autopilot/auto throttle
Aggressively apply Max thrust
Simultaneously roll wings level and pitch to 20*
Retract speed brakes
If terrain still a threat pitch to PLI/stick shaker
Do not change configuration until terrain clearance is assured
Monitor radio altimeter
When clear of terrain decrease pitch attitude and accelerate
