Offside tuning light is illuminated white when
Radio normally associated with this panel is being tuned by antoher radio panel
or
Radio tuning panel is being used to tune a radio not normally associated with this panel
VHF TEST switch causes
Removes auto squelch feature and permitts recpetion of background noise and thereby testing receiver operation
Improves reception of weak signals
FAIL FAIL means
Selected radio has failed
Selected frequencies may continue to be displayed in the frequency indicator when radio is not available
PANEL FAIL = Radio tuning panel has failed
Keyline timer
Limits VHF transmission to approx 35 secs
Approx 25 to 30 secs after PTT is selected the transceiver makes an aural tone (side tone) for 5 secs in the headset. When tone stops - transmission stops and radio is set to receive mode automatically
Filter switch V/B/R means
V = NAV and ADF voice audio
B = NAV and ADF voice and range audio
R = NAV and ADF range audio
Service interphone switch
Activates external jacks
Can still communicate with cc if switch is OFF
INT on control column selects flight interphone and bypasses the ACP transmitter selector (same as using I/C)
CVR is activated when
Engine is started or
CVR switch is placed to ON
CVR erase function
Hold down for 2 secs = all 4 channels erased
Operative on the ground and parking brake set
CVR TEST switch
Push for 5 secs
Status light flashes once
Tone may be heard through a headset plugged into the headphone jack
VOICE RECORDER switch in AUTO or ON
AUTO = Powers CVR from first engine start until 5 mins after last engine shutdown
ON = Powers CVR until first engine start then trips the switch to AUTO
Speaker operation are the mic talk muted
Yes but for O2 mask operation they are not muted for microphone operation
Do the CPT, FO and observer audio stations operate independantly
Yes
Degraded operation to the ACP what works/doesn’t work
Transmitter selectors are not functional
CPT = VHF1
FO = VHF2
OBV = VHF1
Receiver switches are not functional
Radio heard at preset volume through headset
SPKR inop and switch inop
Flight interphone and service interphone inop and switches on control column
MASK-BOOM switch still works
Hand mic inop
Altitude alert, GPWS ad winshear not heard
Can’t access PA system through panel
Where is the PA address system jack
P8 aft electronic panel
VHF antenna location and issues
Upper (VHF1) and lower fuselage (VHF 2 and 3)
Lower antenna = susceptible to multipath interference from nearby buildings and vehicles
Upper = no interference
