Landing Gear and Brakes Flashcards
Landing gear indicator lights will illuminate RED if
Landing gear lever is not down and locked (with either thrust lever retarded to idle and below 800ft AGL)
Related l/d gear is in disagreement with lever
AUTO BRAKE DISARM light is illuminated amber when
Speed brake lever moved to down detent during RTO or l/d
Thrust lever advanced during RTO or l/d (exept during first 3 seconds after touchdown or l/d)
Landing made with RTO selected
RTO selected on ground (self test for 1 to 2 secs)
Malfunction with Autobrake system
RTO - Max brake pressure is applied when
Thrust levers are retarded to idle at or above 90kts
Normal pre charge of the brake pressure
1000PSI
Rudder pedals can turn to nose wheel up to
7* in either direction
Nose wheel steering wheel (Tiller) turns nose wheel up to
78* in either direction
Overrides rudder pedal steering
Autobrake available on Normal and Alternate braking systems?
No only Normal
What stops the wheels spinning when gear is retracted
Snubbers in nose wheel bay
Brakes on main wheels
What happens if the gear is damaged and it is retracted
Impact fittings prevent damage to the main wheel well and the gear stops retracting and freefalls back to down postion
Can’t be retracted until fitting is replaced
When is nosewheel steering available
Nose gear is in down position and compressed by the weight of the a/c
A leak downstream of the l/d gear transfer unit what will happen to alternate steering
It is lost
What does the lockout pin do on the nosewheel steering
Depressurises nosewheel steering
Allows plane to be pushed back without depressurising HYD systems
What HYD system powers alternate brakes
System A
Automatically supplies pressure to system if HYD system B is low or has failed
What HYD system powers normal brakes
System B
What pressurises the Brake accumulator
HYD system B
If both normal and alternate braking systems have been lost - can still provide several braking applications and apply parking brake
