medsci lab 1 Flashcards
difference between human and rat female reproductive organs
Rat is Y shaped with two “arms” or horns in which embryos implant.
gall bladder in rats
they have none LOLLLL L + RATIO
The structure that forms the physical separation between the abdominal and thoracic cavities
Diaphram it is also not part of the serous membranes
The gland that produces both digestive enzymes and hormones
pancreas
Organs not part of the digestive system
Heart, Lungs, Spleen, Trachea, Bladder, Kidneys, Reproductive organs and Thymus
peritoneum
surrounds the peritoneal cavity and is a very thin membrane bonded to the abdominal wall.
mesentery tissue
double layer of peritoneum attaching small intestines ot posterior abdominal wall connected to parietal and visceral peritoneum around small intestines. suspends the intestines and provides support
Thoracic cavity
Contains the heart, lungs oesophagus and trachea
pericardial cavity
contains the heart
pleural cavities
contains the lungs
pelvic cavity
urinary bladder, bit of large intestine and internal organs of reproductive system.
abdominal cavity
contains stomach, spleen, liver, small intestine and most of large intestine
Structures in human not rat
gallbladder, canine, vermiform appendix, sigmoid colon and bulbous ureters
Body cavities
Ventral: peritoneal cavity(fillied with serous fluid to reduce friction allowing organs to slide around, contains no organs), pericardial cavity and 2 pleural cavities
Organs secreting products into duodenum via common duct
pancreas and liver via bile duct.
