Indicators-
- unconscious pt w/o gag reflex
- ineffective ventilation w/ BVM & basic airway Mx
- > 10min assisted ventilation required
- unable to intubate
Contras-
-gag reflex/ resistance on insertion
-trismus/strong jaw tone
- upper airway obstruction
- suspected epiglottis
PRECAUTIONS-
-N/A pt sniffing position
- pt who require high airway pressures
- vomit in airway
- pead w enlarged tonsils
