Discusses the notion of the ‘global village’ that info would be passed on electronically due to it moving at the speed of light. Predicted postmodern world would create a new pattern of communication of social interactions. Globalisation has impacted media as more access to range of lifestyles that offer choice and new hybrid identities. progressions means everybody’s lives are in utmost proximity, created by our electric involvement in each other’s lives. media is saturated as people engage with so many different types and media helps construct people’s identities. As are connected on a daily basis. Diversity means There is now no traditional representations of social groups so there is an “erosion of identity’ and boundaries are blurred between groups of people (no set norms values, class, gender)

claims media saturation has altered reality and this has a negative impact on society. He says people are consumed by communication which has led to hyper realism where physical world is blended with virtual realities. Also states there is so much info that media has to simplify it so we accept fake news/ diluted view of information. Also simulacra where virtual life is better than real one e.g. cybercity and second life
