what we see in the media is determined by the audience. If social groups are presented unfairly, audiences wouldn’t continue to use the media products sold. Audiences are able to manipulate the media as they have plural views of society (several views that influence)- supported by two step flow (exposure of news and then accept or reject)

state that audiences are capable of conforming and accepting these representations of social groups or rejecting them (supports hallroan and the two step flow)
