Language contains speech and written forms.
Speech contains spoken words.
Broca’s area
Brain region on the left hemisphere of the brain in the frontal lobe. Responsible for speech production.
Wernicke’s area
Brain region on the left hemisphere of the brain in the temporal lobe and is responsible for speech comprehension.
Nativist theory
Theory that states language acquisition is an innate (biological) ability.
Interactionist theory
Theory of language acquisition that’s based on symbolic interactionism.
We learn language through interacting with people who has better language acquisition.
Cognitive theory
Emphasizes role of cognitive development and mental processes on language acquisition.
Behaviorist theory
Focus on behavioral factors in language acquisition.
