Existentialism challenges the traditional
idea that individuals have a pre-defined essence or nature. Naturee. Instead, it
posits that human beings exist first and then define themselves through
their choices and actions. In other words, you are what you make of
yourself.
Existence Precedes Essence
Existentialism places a strong emphasis on
human freedom and the notion that individuals are responsible for their
choices and actions. With freedom comes the burden of responsibility
for the consequences of those choices.
Freedom and Responsibility:
Existentialism values individuality and the uniqueness of
each person’s experience. It recognizes that no single philosophy or set
of rules can prescribe how individuals should live.
