math 2 Flashcards
negative exponent receprical rule
when there is a # raised to a negative exponent like 2^-3 the you could write it as 1/2^3 beucase it is the recepitocal rule and you need to follw it.
The logb(x)+logb(y) is same as logb(xy)
so log2(x)+log2(8x) becomes log2(8x^2)
Trig properties
sin^2 x + cos^2 x=1
Mispoint formula
( x1 + x2 /2 , y1 + y2/2 )
Distance formula, used to find distance between two points.
√ (X2-X1)^2 + (Y2-Y1)^2
circle formula
(x-h)^2 + (y-k)^2= r^2
This is when the center of the cirlce is (h,k) and the r is the radius.
Elipces formula or oval
(x-h)^2/a^2. +. (y-k)^2/b = 1
area of trinagle
a= 1/2 BH
area of parallelograms
A= BH
Circumferce of a circle
C= 2πR
area of cirlce
πR^2
Similar trinagles, meaning triangles that have the same corrosponding sides.
Perimeter will be twice as large
and area will be the ratio squared = times bigger so if the ratio is 2 then 2^2 4 times bigger.
common triplets
3-4-5
5-12-13
or times (2)
6-8-10
10-24-26
When there is a square root in the denominator
then you can * by that √ root and then rationalize that and then simply divide.
Special right triangles
Rule: if you going from a larger to a smaller angel then you have to divide and when you from a smaller to a larger, then you multiply.
45-45-90 is one of these triangel. the two 45 angles are = x and the 90 is equal to x√2.
30-60-90. The 30 is x, the 60 is x√3 and the hypt is 2x.
When you have this angle, get it to 30, cause 30=x so you can easily move in and out of it.
Bigger angles have bigger values and vice versa.
