MASTER CAUTION Flashcards
MASTER CAUTION IRS GPS
Both GPS receivers are failed
ADS-B is inop
Set DME updating ON
Continue normal operation if ANP meets the requirement for phase of flight
MASTER CAUTION IRS FAULT
An IRS fault has occured or the present position is incorrect.
If the FAULT light is illuminated on the ground without the ALIGN light…DO NOT TAKEOFF
Inflight
-Autopilot …disengage
-Select the operating IRS (both on L or both on R)
-Auto throttle…disengage
AUTOPILOTS CANNOT BE ENGAGED
MASTER CAUTION IRS ON DC
IRS AC power has failed
The left IRS will continue will continue to operate as long as DC power is available
The right IRS will only operate for 5 minutes
MASTER CAUTION IRS DC FAIL
The IRS backup DC power is failed.
The IRS is operating normally on AC power.
If BOTH IRS lights are illuminated the battery is nearly discharged or the switched hot battery bus is not powered.
ENGINE and APU fire extinguishing may not be available (consider landing at nearest available)
MASTER CAUTION IRS ILS
An ILS failure occurs
Do not fly an ILS approach.
GLS and non-ILS approaches may be flown
MASTER CAUTION IRS GLS
A GLS failure occurs
Do not fly a GLS approach
GPS-L or GPS-R INVALID scratchpad msg
or ATC report
ADS-B OUT failure
Select opposite transponder
FMC DISAGREE
RNP approach. GO AROUND unless suitable visual references can be established and maintained
Non RNP approach, verify position
FMC DISAGREE - VERTICAL
The left and right FMC target airspeeds or paths disagree, the FMC will attempt to correct the difference, most likely when crossing a waypoint with an altitude constraint.
If the disagreement remains entering an approach phase the MSG will change to FMC DISAGREE
FMC FAIL
VTK along with MAP failure flags displayed on one or both NDs
LNAV/VNAV may disengage
BOTH FMCs FAILED
NO FMC data on the CAPT and FO NDs MAP and NO FMC data on either CDUs
-resume conventional navigation
-when preparing for the approach use the SPD REF selector
LEFT FMC FAILED
NO FMC data on the CAPT ND and no FMC data on BOTH CDUs
-FMC both on L or Both on R
RIGHT FMC FAILED
No FMC data on the FO ND, MSG light is illuminated and SINGLE FMC OPERATION scratchpad message is shown.
-FMC both on L or both on R
UNABLE REQD NAV PERF-RNP
The actual navigation performance is not sufficent.
During an approach GO AROUND unless suitable visual references can be established and maintained.
EMERGENCY DESCENT
Announce the ED, PF “attention cabin crew! Emergency descent.”
Passenger signs….on
without delay, descend to the LSALT or 10000ft
Engine start switches (both)….CONT
Thrust levers (both)…. reduce to min or as needed for anti ice
Speedbrake…FLIGHT DETENT
Set target speed to Mmo/Vmo
after memory items have been completed
-turn on all external lights
-notify ATC
-squark 7700
-check LSALT
BOMB ON BOARD
-Maintain airplane altitude.
If below MSA continue climb to safe altitude.

MASTER CAUTION DOORS FWD CARGO/AFT CARGO
If pressurization is normal, continue normal operation
If pressurization is not normal,
-Don OXY masks
-Establish crew communications
-passenger signs …. on
-STOP CLIMB set the flight altitude to actual airplane altitude or 9000ft
MASTER CAUTION OVERHEAD ELT
The emergency locator transmitter is on
MASTER CAUTION OVERHEAD EMER EXIT LIGHTS-NOT ARMED
The emergency exit lights switch is not armed
Individual emergency exit lights supply a minimum of 10 minutes of lighting
MASTER CAUTION DOORS FWD ENTRY AFT ENTRY
Instruct cabin crew to verify door handle position
If the handle is closed and pressurization is normal, continue normal operation
If the handle is NOT closed
Plan to land at the nearest available airport
MASTER CAUTION DOORS EQUIP
If pressurization is normal, continue normal operation
If pressurization NOT normal
checklist leads to depressurizing the airplane
WINDOW DAMAGE
If window is ARCING
-window heat OFF, max 250 below 10000
-pull both WINDSHIELD AIR controls
If window is cracked or shattered
-Don seatbelts and shoulder harnesses
-window heat OFF, max 250 below 10000
-if damage is OUTER pane, continue normal ops - if damage is INNER pane - OXY masks ON - STOP climb (if above MSA) and or descend to depressurize the airplane
CABIN TEMPERATURE HOT
Flight deck temperature is too high
- trim air OFF
- if still to warm, L PACK off
- if still to warm, descend, open FFD, min 290kts
If passenger cabin is too high
- trim air OFF
