Mapping the Campaign Flashcards
A campaign map begins as
A rough idea of the narrative and activities that will comprise your campaign, and develops into a detailed and specific, timeframed grid.
Before you can begin to map your campaign
You need to know what you are aiming to achieve, who needs to give you permission, and by when.
Create your map by
Working from your polling day backwards. Polling days are either fixed or flexible.
You must be comfortable with uncertainty and
Your fictional plan must work well in the real world.
The world as it currently is must not
Act as a brake on ideas. Our campaign must make new things a reality.
Be willing to put your plan into action
And get the timing right.
Learn to work intuitively as well as
Strategically and rationally.
Creativity is
An essential part of campaigning
Creativity is a complex, iterative process that
Requires a range of skills and attitudes. It is not the gift of a chosen few.
Campaigning is an iterative
Rather than a linear process.
The aim is to create ever-increasing
Momentum as you move towards your polling day.
The campaign team needs to be built to ensure
A complimentary mix of skills and attitudes, held together by shared beliefs and values.
Strategy, resources and time
All need to be managed.
