A
1 vomiting , coughing , retching etc
2 causes ↑ intra-abdominal pressure
3 Forces Stomach contents into oesophagus
4 Dilating it and causing a tear

-Excessive alcohol
-Chronic Cough
- Bulimia
-Hyperemesis gravidarum

- Haematemesis (after retching/
vomiting) - syncope
- loss of consciousness
- Dizziness
- Hypotension

how are mallory Weiss tear treated?
A
- mostly spontaneously heal within 24 hrs
- surgery- to repair tear
