Q

Histology of patch kaposi?

A

Mass of irregular capillaries with perivascular cuffing by plasma cells & lymphocytes. Proliferation of fine vessels surrounding pre-existing vessel.

Can’t be differentiated from pyogenic granuloma.

Q

Histology of nodular and plaque kaposi sarcoma?

A
  1. Plaque stage →> proliferation of spindle cells (endothelial cells).
  2. Nodular stage:

↑proliferation of spindle cells.

↑extravasated RBCs around slit like vascular spaces.

↑signs of malignancy (mitosis).

Q

Histology of malignant fibrous histiocytoma?

A

Formed of 2 types of cells (fibroblasts & histiocytes).

Thin Bundle

4 Types:

  1. Storiform pleomorphic (most common) → short fascicles of spindle shape fibroblasts in storiform pattern admixed with histiocytes both showing signs of malignancy.
  2. Giant cell type →→ contain giant cells.
  3. Myxoid type → contain myxoid tissue.
  4. Angiomatoid type → contain blood vessels.

Q

Liposarcoma subtypes?

A

H/P:

Ⓒ Presence of lipoblasts (lipid forming cell) showing signs of

malignancy.

Dissolution of fat content of the cell around darkly stained

nucleus → signet ring appearance.

O Types:

  1. Well differentiated type.

o As lipoma formed of scattered lipoblasts showing signs of malignancy (hyperchromatic neoclei).

  1. Dedifferentiated type:

Tumor with parts well differentiated & other parts poorly

differentiated.

  1. Myxoid type:

Most common type intraorally.

o Contain proliferating lipoblasts within myxold stroma that contain

rich capillary network giving Chicken footprint appearance.

  1. Round cell type:

Ⓒ Most aggressive form. Round shape cell (poorly

differentiated) & increase signs of malignancy.
5. Pleomorphic type:

O Increase in cellular pleomorphism & bizarre giant cells.
