A

-Age any age but most common in young adults

L Floor of the mouth.

The ventral surface and posterior lateral border of the tongue . The area of the palatine tonsil and
soft palete,
3. Signs & symptoms:

16
Q

Epstein pearls

A

Entrapment of epi between the palatal shelves

Found along med palatal raphe

17
Q

Bohns nodules

A

Inclusion cyst
Remnants of minor salivary gland entrapped in the palate
Scattered all over the hard palate specially near the soft palate

18
Q

How often does palatal cyst of newborn occur and describe it

A

65%to 85% of newborn
It’s self limiting
1 to 3 mm
Multiple

19
Q

Names of traumatic cyst

A

Simple
Solitary
Hemorrhagic
Idiopathic

20
Q

Static bone cyst names

A

Stafne bone defect
Dev.ling mand. Salivary gland depression
Latent cyst

21
Q

Site of traumatic cyst?

A
  • mand >max

- posylterior to canine

22
Q

Traumatic cyst xray

A

Above mand canal
Scalloped upper border
Unilocular

23
Q

Static cyst bi ot uni

A

COULD be bi

24
Q

Location of static cyst and xray pic

A

Lingual of mandible
In line with 3rd molar
Or superimposed over apices of ant teeth
Below mand canal level

25
Q

Static cyst is from what gland

A

Submandibular if post

Sub ling if ant

26
Q

Cyst that doesn’t cause expansion of bone?

A
  • static
  • traumatic
  • okc early on
27
Q

Pathogenesis of aneurysmal cyst

A

Change in hemodynamics (vascular supply) eg. AV shunt, dilated vascular bed causing resorption of bone by osteoclasts.

✔Trauma-+ blood clot formation break down of clot rather than organization → necrotic tissue→→ cyst formation.

2ry reaction to a previous lesion like CGCG - OR fibrous dysplasia

28
Q

Site of aneurysmal bone cyst?

A

-long bones

Mandible

29
Q

Aneurysmal cyst signes?

A
  • Rapid expansion of bone
  • fusiform or rounded
  • painful
  • when periosteum Is opened a profuse bleeding like blood soaked sponge occurs
  • young adults
  • also in long bones
30
Q

Xray of aneurysmal cyst

A
  • subperiosteal blowout
  • cortical exp.and thinning
  • uni but mainly multilocular
31
Q

Glands that cause ranula?

A

Sublingual mainly

Less often sub mandibular

32
Q

Cysts that elevate the tongue and interfere with mustication and speech…

A
  • ranula

- epidermoid and dermoid if above the geniohyoid ms
