are the spaces within the body that contain and protect internal organs

dorsal and ventral
is located along the back of the body and head, contains organs of the nervous system that coordinate body functions that is divided in to two positions: “cranial” & “spinal”
Dorsal Cavity
located within the skull, surrounds and protect the brain.

Is located within the spinal column, surrounds and protects the spinal column.
Spinal Cavity
Is located along the front of the body, containing the body organs that sustains homeostasis.
Ventral Cavity
Is the processes through which the body maintains a constant internal environment.

> abdominal cavity
> pelvic cavity
Also known as the “chest cavity” or “thorax”, that surrounds and protects the heart and lungs,
Thoracic Cavity
A muscle thats separates thoracic and abdominal cavities.
Diaphragm
Contains the major organs of digestion, this cavity is frequently referred to simply as the abdomen.
Abdominal Cavity
Is the space formed by the hip bones and contains the organs of the reproductive and excretory systems.
Pelvic Cavity
Refers to these two cavities as single unit.
