Organ
Is the study of disease: its nature and cause as well as the produced changes in structure and function. It also means a condition produced by disease.
Pathology
Is a physician who specializes in the laboratory analysis of diseased tissue samples to confirm or establish a diagnosis.

Etiology
Is a disease-producing microorganisms such as a virus.
Pathogen
Is the spread of a disease.
Transmission
This means that a pathogen is possibly present.
It occurs through a lack of proper hygiene standards or by failure to take appropriate infection control precautions.
Contamination
aka “contagious disease”
transmitted from one person to another either directly or indirect contact with contaminated objects.
Communicable disease
communicable = capable of being transmitted
Refers to situations in which a susceptible person is infected by contact with a contaminated surface.
Indirect contact transmission
The spread of a disease through contact with infected blood or other body fluids that are contaminated by infected blood.
Bloodborne transmission
The spread of disease by coughing or sneezing onto a nearby person or object.
Droplet transmission
Occurs through contact with germs floating in the air.
Airborne transmission
Is caused by eating or drinking contaminated food or water that has not been properly treated to remove contamination it kill any pathogens present.
Food-borne and Water-bone transmission (fecal-oral transmission)
Is the spread of certain disease due to the bite if a vector.
Vector-borne transmission
vector = insects / animals
Specialist in the study of outbreaks of disease within a population group.
