Insertion; Base of mandible, skin and lower part of face
Action; Tightens fascia of the neck, assists in depressing the mandible, draws down the corners of the mouth

Actions;
Unilaterally- w/ ribs fixed, lateral flexion of neck to the same side. Rotation of neck to same side
Bilaterally- Elevation of ribs during inhalation. flexion of head and neck

Origin; Sphenoid bone
Insertion; Medial- Medial surface of ramus of the mandible
Lateral- articular disk and tmj capsule, neck of mandible
Action; Unilaterally- laterally deviates the mandible to opposite side. Bilaterally- Protracts the mandible

Insertion; first rib

Origin; Transverse processes of C2-C7

Origin; fascia and spinous process C7-T4
Insertion; Mastiod process of temporal bone
Action; Bilaterally- Extends head and neck
Unilaterally- Rotate neck to same side and lateral flexion of neck
Splenius Capitus
Actions; Bilaterally- extends spine
Unilaterally- Lateral flexion of the spine and rotation of trunk to same side
Erector Spinae (group)
Origin; spinous process of T3-T6
Insertion; posterior tubercles of transverse processes C1-C3
Actions; Bilaterally- extends head and neck
Unilaterally- rotation of head and neck to same side, also lateral flexion
