Q

where does the visceral and parietal pleura come together?

A

They come together, and become continuous at the root of the lung

Q

parietal pleura parts

A

Costol pleura- lining thoracic walls
Diaphragmatic pleura- lining of the diaphragm

Q

right lung

A

Three lobes, superior, middle and inferior

Lobes are separated by horizontal and oblique fissures

8
Q

Bronchial tree

A

each lung receives a primary or principal bronchus from the trachea

Each principal bronchus divides into lobar bronchi which supplies a lobe of the lung

each lobar bronchus divides into tertiary segmental bronchi, which supplies a specific bronchopulmonary segment

Q

there are no arterial anastomoses between

A

Bronchopulmonary segment

Therefore, removal of a pulmonary segment of the lung will not in danger of the viability of the adjacent segments

16
Q

hilum of the lung

A

Or Root

attachment point of the lung

Connects the lungs to the heart and trachea
Surrounded by the reflection of parietal to visceral pleura

Provide highway for the main bronchus, pulmonary vessels, bronchial vessels, lymph vessels, and nerves

17
Q

Lymphatic drainage

A

Superficial lymphatic drains to the surface and runs along the visceral pleura to the hilum

lymphatic drainage follows the bronchi and collects at the hillum

at hillum, lymphatic drainage is filtered by the tracheobronchial nodes

18
Q

parietal pleura, and thoracic wall superiorly

A

pleura extends through the thoracic inlet it is called a cupula of the pleura

19
Q

parietal pleura and thoracic wall inferiorly

A

pleura related three ways

Anterior- 7 costal cartilage
Midaxillary- 10th costal cartilage
Posterior- 12 vertebral level

20
Q

Costodiaphragmatic recess parietal pleura and thoracic wall

A

Separation of parietal pleura from visceral pleura for the costal and diaphragmatic pleura meet

21
Q

Lungs to thoracic wall superior

A

Lung extends through the thoracic inlet as the apex of the lung

22
Q

lungs to thoracic wall anterior

A

The lung extends down to the sixth costal cartilage

23
Q

lungs to thoracic wall midaxillary

A

The lung extends down to the eighth costal cartilage

24
Q

Lungs to thoracic wall posterior

A

Lung extends down to the 10th or 11th rib

25
Bronchopulmonary segment
Largest subdivisions of a lobe Pyramid shaped segments apexes facing the root of the lung base at the pleural surface Separated from adjacent segments by connective tissue septa Supplied independently by segmental bronchus in a tertiary branch of the pulmonary artery Named according to the segmental bronchi supplying them Drained by intersegmental parts of the pulmonary veins that live in the connective tissue between and drain adjacent segments usually 18 to 20 in number 10 in the right lung, 8 to 10 in the left lung Surgically resectable
26
