1
The OAP will be flown in the event of an engine failure while on takeoff for mission with less than a ___% second segment climb gradient AND the field is ____.
3.3%
IMC
Prior to takeoff, aircrews (Should/ Will) ensure the IFF transponder has all MODES/Codes operational.
WILL
On mission, use of the TDR-94D (ATC) is not authorized and must be placed in ____.
Standby
If after takeoff and prior to P-518 entry, a transponder mode failure occurs, the aircrew may request clearance north provided at least ____ modes are operational.
two
When clearance to enter or operate in P-518 is denied by COBRA due to inoperative transponder MODES/CODES, aircrews will immediately proceed to ____ ____ and notify _____.
Fallback tracks
VANGUARD
What is MODE 1 (M1)
For military airspace only. Used to provide an ATC ground station with the mission profile of the mission aircraft.
What is MODE 2 (M2)
For military airspace use only. Used to provide an ATC ground station with identity (tail number) of the mission aircraft
What is MODE 3/A (M3/A)
For military and civilian airspace use.
Used to provide an ATC ground station with the identity (assigned code) of the mission aircraft.
The assigned code is first received from ATC. It is then entered into the transponder and transmitted back to ATC as a reply.
The military Mode 3 is identical to the civilian Mode A.
What is MODE 5 (M5)
Used to provide an ATC ground station, missile battery, or another aircraft with a crypto-coded reply to a crypto-coded interrogation, for the purpose of identifying the mission aircraft as friendly. This reply includes the identity (tail number) and ADS-B position of the mission aircraft Should be keyed at all times.
What is the XPDR FAIL Annunciator
The amber XPDR FAIL annunciator will illuminate when the APX-119 subsystem has had a failure, an RT failure, or loss of communication between RT and the CMU.
What is the ADS-B FAIL Annunciator
The amber ADS-B FAIL annunciator represents failure of the unit to transmit ADS-B data either from failure of the unit or failure of the data received by the unit. This does not indicate a complete failure of transponder functionality
What is the IFF CAUTION Annunciator
The amber IFF CAUTION annunciator will illuminate when a Mode 5 interrogation is received, and a friend reply is unable to be sent
The annunciator will also illuminate when a fault in the IFF is detected, or cryptographic keys are not loaded with the KIV installed.
What is the MODE 5 LETHAL Annunciator
The red MODE 5 LETHAL warning annunciator will illuminate if the transponder receives a Mode 5 lethal interrogation by a weapons platform prior to a weapons release and is unable to reply.
What do you do if you have an inoperative TCAS or TAWS?
Mission aircraft with an installed but inoperable TCAS/ TAWS will be briefed and approved IAW the 3rd MI BN RAW.
The safe distance for outside personnel is _____ ft
40’
In the RC-12 REL, “O” – indicates:
The requirement for a specific operational procedure that must be accomplished in planning for and/or operating the aircraft with the listed item inoperative
REL Procedure, System 28.5.2, Fuel Quantity Indicators
For one Fuel Quantity Indicator inoperative: add the following to the REL procedure:
(1) On the ground: the flight crew will verify the amount of fuel in the Mains and the Auxiliary
tanks.
(2) In-flight:
(a) Flight crew will use the fuel amount from the operational fuel-quantity side as the starting
fuel amount for the non-operational fuel-quantity indicator side.
(b) Flight crew will set Power Control Levers to evenly match fuel flow on both engines for
the remainder of the flight.
REL Procedure, System 31.7: ETM System
may be inoperative as long as engine data is recorded in VMC conditions per local maintenance policy
REL Procedure, System 32.1: Parking Brake
may be inoperative if one crewmember remains at the brakes until the wheels are chocked
REL Procedure, System 33.1: Cabin Lights System
may be inoperative provided both crewmembers agree that the current lighting configuration is acceptable and safe for the duration of the flight and will not interfere with flight duties.
REL Procedure, System 34.21.1-6: Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS)
GPWS may be inoperative provided the flight crew conducts proper flight planning to ensure terrain avoidance along all parts of the flight route.
Flight Management System (FMS) – Navigation Database
Navigation Database may be out of currency provided the flight crew completes appropriate flight planning as required per the applicable dATM Task.
Deviations that result in less than______________ require a completed Deviation Report immediately following mission completion.
less than half of planned on station times
Crews may deviate as necessary to accomplish the aircrew tasks and responsibilities, but who ultimately responsible for ensuring that all pre-mission tasks are completed IAW applicable regulations

What is the Buffer Zone?
A line formed by visual checkpoints 5 miles south of the MDL. Fixed Wing aircraft do not fly in the Buffer Zone. Rotary wing aircraft operate inside the Buffer Zone IAW specific regulations.
What is the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ).
The area that separates North and South Korea. It is 4,000 meters wide (2,000 meters to the north and 2,000 meters to the south of the MDL).
What is VUL/ On station time
The scheduled time for all mission flights to be on track, scheduled through ROME.
What is HOTDOG
HOT DOG is the recall word used to warn of an impending or actual No Fly Line/MDL/Border/Buffer Zone overflight.
What is JACKRABBIT
Recall word broadcast to evacuate the Korean Tactical Zone (RK) P-518 airspace for emergency situations
What is KEYHOLE?
Airspace within which a southerly turn is likely to result in flight into the P-73 A/B and a northerly heading is likely to result in flight across the MDL
The KEYHOLE can be identified in flight using the following vortac radials: (PRI) SEL 330-030 radial, (ALT) SOT 344-016 radial.
What is the MDL (Military Demarcation Line)
The physical border between North and South Korea.
What is the Modified Korean No Fly Zone (NFZ).
The Comprehensive Military Agreement which was part of the historic Panmunjom Declaration on 13 September 2018 modified the Korean NFZ. As a result, fixed wing aircraft will maintain 40km standoff in the east and 20km standoff in the west, from the DMZ
What is the P-518 Korean Tactical Zone
Prohibited area established to limit and control air operations in armistice, simplify identification of infiltration attempts, and prevent friendly forces from inadvertent over-flight of the MDL. P-518 extends from the east to west coast of Korean peninsula.
What is the P-73 A/B.
Restricted area in the vicinity of Seoul, ROK.
If an aircraft flies toward P-73 without proper clearance, a tracer warning shot will be fired. If an aircraft continues into P-73, it will be shot down without further warning.
When takeoff temperatures are consistently lower than ____ C, than fuel loads are assumed to be full.
