Low Level Wind Shear Advisory Flashcards
Included in an ATIS broadcast is:
Low level wind shear/microburst when reported by pilots or is detected on an wind shear detection system.
How long should low level wind shear/ microburst advisories be included on the ATIS?
20 minutes following the last report or indication of the wind shear/microburst
If unstable conditions produce multiple alerts:
Issue an advisory of multiple wind shear/microburst alerts followed by a specific alert or wind information most appropriate to the aircraft operation.
If an aircraft says its performing wind shear escape maneuvers
Do not issue control instructions contrary to the pilot actions.
ATC should continue to provide safety alerts regarding:
Terrain or obstacles and traffic advisories for aircraft performing wind shear escape maneuvers.
Do not assume that:
Other aircraft are doing wind shear escape maneuvers if they are near another aircraft performing escape maneuvers.
Responsibility for approved separation resumes when:
Departures:
> a crew member tells ATC that the wind shear maneuver is complete and ATC observes that approved separation has been re-est.
> a crew member tells ATC that the escape maneuver is complete and has resumed a previously assigned departure clearance/routing
Arrivals:
> A crew member informs ATC that the escape maneuver is complete, and
> the aircrew has execute an alternate clearance or requested further instructions.
Low level wind shear or microburst advisories are included in the:
