What is the shout (voice) line used for?
Time sensitive information (position specific)
What is the ring line used for?
non-time sensitive information (non position specific)
When should RDR transfer communications of all arrivals to ATCT? (An aircraft on final)
Before reaching 7 miles from the airport and MUST transfer comm before the aircraft reaches 5 miles from the airport.
When should UND VFR arrivals (not practice approaches) be transferred?
{Ex: into Billboard, Watergate, etc.}
Between 3 miles outside of the feeder fix, and the feeder fix.
When flashing (handing off) IFR arrivals or VFR practice approaches into GFKT, what do you have to do?
> wait for ATCT to accept the first handoff before initiating the next
> type the approach and type landing in the scratchpad
> APREQ a heading/altitude for low approaches doing anything other than local climb-out
RDR must display type aircraft in the scratchpad for:
When non-UND aircraft are inbound to GFK, what do you have to do?
Type in the type aircraft in the scratchpad
Ex: type in ‘C172’, click the aircraft on the scope
When a VFR aircraft is doing a straight in arrival to GFK, what do you have to type in the scratchpad?
5SI
When can you flash IFR arrivals doing low approaches, missed approaches and go-arounds back to approach?
Ex: HANDOFF, ‘E’, click the aircraft, take the flash
After they pass the final approach fix
What do you have to do when a RWY change is taking place?
Take back the flash or flash aircraft back to approach that will be resequenced into the new runway.
What do you have to do when arrival opens/closes?
Type it into the GI (general information) text line so that GFKT can see that arrival is open.
(This is typically done by arrival)
