Lord of the flies - Chapter 2 Flashcards
Ralph blows the conch
Then he organises a meeting.
The choir boys take off their cloaks and Ralph discusses the rules and what they are going to do on the island
The hunters
Ralph allows Jack’s choir to be the hunters and let’s jack build weapons and to practice in the woods
The beast
The boy with the Mulberry coloured birthmark requests the conch and claims there is a ‘ beastie’
They laugh but the little ones are afraid.
Ralph denies its existence.
Jack states that the hunters will hunt and kill it
Fire
Ralph insists on making a signal fire and so everyone collects wood.
They use Piggy’s glasses to make the fire
(fire acts as a dual symbol, initially it is used for good however by the end it is a weapon)
Fire on the mountain
Piggy insists they should keep it under control as it starts to burn the surroundings
