  • increased cardiovascular risk

  • if not started day 1 on menses, use non-drug contraception for week 1 of therapy
  • take same time each day for max effectiveness
  • some anti-convulsants (divalproex, lamotrigine) decrease effectiveness and increase chance of seizures.
