Zero/Negative G

A

Zero and/or negative G must not exceed a maximum duration of 30 seconds for any one application.

Q

Sustained G above 25,000 ft

A

Sustained G manoeuvres in excess of 3G for longer than 5 seconds are prohibited above 25,000ft AMSL.

Acceleration Atelectasis may be induced due to high oxygen concentrations from OBOGS causing a temporary collapse of alveoli in the lungs resulting in coughing.

Q

Transonic Recovery

A

Recovery from flight above M0.94 should commence with application of no more than +2.5G.

(An abrupt nose-up trim change occurs when decelerating through approximately M0.94 so application of g should be limited to prevent a g excedance)

Rolling Limits

A

Deliberate generation of large sideslip angles during rolling manoeuvres is prohibited.
Rudder pedals must be central during rolling manoeuvres above 200KCAS.
Any manoeuvre that shows signs of diverging must be terminated immediately.
(Non-rapid rolling is achieved by applying no more than 1/2 lateral stick deflection at high speed.)

Q

Rapid Rolling Limits

A

Additional to rolling limits:
Rapid rolling is prohibited above FL350.
Longitudinal stick position must be held as close as possible to the position at the entry of the rolling manoeuvre.
After rapid rolling manoeuvre, sideslip must be minimised before any other manoeuvre is commenced.
The aircraft must be clear of buffet at the start of any rapid rolling manoeuvre.
The airbrake may be IN or OUT for a rapid rolling manoeuvre, but must not be moved during the manoeuvre.
Flaps must be UP, or in the COMBAT setting, for a rapid rolling manoeuvre and must not be moved.
At 1G, may rapid roll through 360◦.
Any other G, only 180◦permitted - further restrictions apply

Q

Full EEC Engine

A

Maximum continuous NH is 104%, maximum transient 104.5%.

Maximum continuous T6 is 880◦C, maximum transient is 885◦C.

Flight Idle (in ISA considitons) is approximately 56.2% NH.

The minimum Ground Idle speed is 3% NH below Flight Idle.

Maximum T6 during ground start is 637◦C.

Maximum T6 during relight is 840◦C.

During starting and relighting, monitor NH and T6 and ensure both increase concurrently - the engine is not in stall.
Symptoms of engine stall are an increasing T6 accompanied by a decrease or stagnation of NH.

Q

Flap Limitations

A

With the exception of combat flap, use of flaps for manoeuvre enhancement is prohibited.

The G and speed limits with flap extended are:
Combat Flap: -2G - 8G, 350kt/M0.8

1/2 Flap: 0G - 2.5G, 250kts

>1/2 Flap: 0G - 2.5G, 200kts

When the flaps are in transit between two settings, the limitations appropriate to the greater flap setting apply

TCAS limits

A

TCAS has limits of ±12,700ft and a notional range of 30nm.

The white range ring is fixed at 2nm and will occult from the display when set to 40nm range.

The format will also display up to four non-bearing intruders or threats in the bottom left of the display.

Q

Autopilot engagement limits

A

To engage must have the following:

  1. Landing Gear up
  2. <35◦of pitch
  3. <70◦AoB
  4. Vertical Speed <18,000ft/min
  5. Autopilot not failed

Attitude hold will maintain current altitude and heading if less than 7◦AoB and <500ft/min vertical speed.
If vertical speed >500ft/min, pitch attitude is held (max 30◦pitch).
If AoB >7◦, AoB is held (max 60◦ AoB).
