Lignocaine Flashcards
What type is Lignocaine?
Class 1b antiarrhythmic 2% antiarrhythmic 1% local anaesthetic
What is Lignocaine MOA?
Blocks Na+ channels reducing the ventricular excitability by blocking Na+ channels during phase 0 = decreased slope of phase 0 and 4
What is the preparation of Lignocaine?
Lignocaine 2% = 100 mg in 5ml For IV
How does Lignocaine exacerbate ventricular dysrythmias?
May cause bradycardia hypotension heart blocks and asystole by the blocking of Na+ channels leading to reduced conduction and prolonged phase 4
What are the indications for Lignocaine?
VT or VF that is unresponsive to Amiodarone
What are the oses for Lignocaine 2%
Pt > 16 in refractory VT/VF lig 2% 100mg IV bolus
undiluted 2 dose max 200mg
Pt <16 in refractory VT/VF lig 2% 1mg/kg IV Bolus (max
100mg) undiluted 2 dose max 2 doses.
what are the contraindications for Lignocaine?
Allergy or hypersensitivity
