Adrenaline Flashcards
What type is Adrenaline?
Sympathomimetic
What effect doe Adrenaline have on peripheral circulation?
Adrenaline causes peripheral vasoconstriction ^ perfusion pressure & decreased capillary permeability
How does Adrenaline effect anaphylaxis?
Adrenaline acts on Alpha adrenoreceptors opening Ca+ channels leading to ^ intracellular Ca+ causing contraction of smooth muscles and vasculature
What are the beta 1 effects of Adrenaline>?
Beta 1 causes ^ myocardial excitability (dromotropic) Tachycardia (chronotropic)& myocardial contractility (inotropic)
How does Adrenaline affect Beta 1 receptors?
By ^ cAMP leads to ^ Ca+ influx in Phase 2 of AP causing increased FOC.
How does Adrenaline cause Bronchodialation?
^ cAMP on smooth muscles = dilation.
How does Beta 2 stimulation help in anaphylaxis?
B2 receptors on MAST cells stabilised which prevents further degranulation and consequential histamine release.
What are the indications for Adrenaline
Asthma, Anaphylaxis, Croup, Cardiac arrest Cardiogenic shock, Bradycardia
Newborn resuscitation
What are the adverse effects of Adrenaline?
Tachycardia,Nausea/ Vomiting, Dysrhythmias (VF),Pupillary dilation,Anxiety, Hypertension
