how deep does light travel

A

• Light penetrates first 100 m (deepest in the blues and the reds, others scatter) - most organisms utilizing the light will be within this distance, things like corals will be in the first 30 m for max, use of light
UV/infrared very attenuated (broken up, less useful) - only goes up to 10 m .
