What did the new plan include
1934

- national Labour Service for men ages 18-25, planting forests, paid pocket money than wages
- GERMAN LABOUR FRONT, Build motorways, hospitals, schools, TO CREATE JOBS
- jews sent to camps and women out of work, men got them
- compulsory military service
How did Germany try to become self sufficient
- producing raw materials such as coal meant new factories opening
- led to failure, partly because Nazis thought they could just invade countries
How did small business improve
-benefited from closure of Jewish shops but big business became extremely powerful
How did big business improve
-benefitted from destruction of trade unions, average salary rose by 70% during 1934-38
How did farmers lives improve
-debts paid off as food prices increased and they were self sufficient
How did industrial workers lives improve
- STRENGTH THROUGH JOY, cheaper prices on theatre and entertainment
- however, workers lost all their trade unions and had to join General Labour Front which meant they couldn’t strike for better conditions

Kinder- children, increase birth rate for armies

- not allowed to smoke or wear trousers
- banned contraception and abortion
- women were given medals on how many children they had (8-gold cross)
