B - animals being held for breeding only and not used in research or used for observational studies only;
C - procedures that cause only slight or momentary pain or distress;
D - procedures that have potential to cause pain or distress but are relieved by appropriate measures;
E - procedures that produce significant pain or distress not relieved by analgesics.
You must place each research animal in a?
pain/distress category, regardless on whether its an USDA covered species or not. Submit to IACUC to place the animals into their category.
When category E procedures are used in USDA species, the information is kept private or public?
