Q

What did Elijah ask the Baal prophets to do with the bull they got?

A

They were supposed to cut the bowl into pieces and laid on the wood and put no fire to it and call out their gods name. Elijah said he would do the same and call out his God’s name. But God that answers their call by fire would be the real God.

Q

What happened when the Baal profits did the sacrifice and called their God?

A

They prepared the bowl and called Baal’s name from morning till noon saying “oh Baal, answer us!” They were limping by the altar they made. By noon Elijah mocked them saying ‘cry aloud.. he is meditating or he has wandered away, or he is on a journey, or he may be asleep and they must awaken him.’ They cried aloud and as per their custom they cut himself with swords and lances until blood gushed out all over them. As midday passes, they raved about their offering of the ablation. There was no voice, no answer, no response, and no fire from their God.

Q

How did Elijah do the sacrifice to god?

A

Elijah asked Israelites to come closer to the altar. Then he repaired the altar of God that was thrown down; he took 12 Stones representing the 12 tribes of Israel to build the altar. Then he made a trench around the altar large enough to hold two measures of seed. Then he put the wood in order, cut the bull into pieces and laid it on the wood. Then he said to the people to pour 4 jars of water 3 times over the altar and the wood. At the time of the offering of the oblation, the prophet Elijah came near and said “Oh Lord, god of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel, that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your bidding. Answer me O Lord answer me, so that this people may know that you, oh lord, or our God, and that you have turned their hearts back.” Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt offering, the wood, the stones, and the dust, and even licked up the water that was in the trench. When all the people saw it they fell on their faces and said “the Lord indeed is God; the Lord indeed is God.”
