He told them to go into the city and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him and wherever he enters, say to the owner of the house, the teacher asks where si the guestroom where I may eat Passover with my disciples? He will show you a large room upstairs, furnished and ready. Make preparations there.

Symbols used in Passover supper that we follow today
The bread: Jesus said that the bread symbolizes His body that was going to be sacrificed on the cross the very next day. He broke the bread as if his body was broken and nailed to the cross.
The wine: Symbolizes the blood that was poured out for us on the cross.
The blood is considered a symbol of the new covenant.
What kind of sacrifice with blood was used in the Old Testament?
Blood of clean animals.
Give an example for using animals for sacrifice in the Old Testament?
When God asked Abraham to sacrifice his son to test his faith, God gave him a ram to sacrifice instead.
What does Bethlehem mean?
House of Bread
Jesus is sacrificed for our sins just like the sacrifices in the Old Testament. Explain how lamb’s blood was used in the Passover story.
During the first Passover, during the 10th plague of first-born’s death, the Israelites were asked to sacrifice a lamb and put its blood on the doorposts so that their first born children would be spared.
Why did Jesus die? Who is the new covenant between?
Jesus died to redeem humankind from our sins. The covenant is between God and the communicant. We are asking forgiveness for our sins first and then taking the Communion as a symbol that we have to remember the ultimate sacrifice Jesus did for us on the cross.
