Lesson 6: macOS Setup Flashcards
Key Points
The macOS Setup Assistant is used to configure initial settings.
Configurable settings vary depending on Mac model and version of macOS.
Many settings configured or skipped by a user during Setup Assistant can be adjusted at any time in System Preferences.
Connecting to the internet during Setup Assistant will activate the Mac.
Activation occurs immediately after connecting and is required to enroll the Mac in a mobile device management (MDM) solution, such as Jamf Pro.
Activation is optional. Unlike iOS, the macOS Setup Assistant does not require internet connectivity to proceed.
Migration Assistant allows for the transfer of user data from another Mac or Windows computer.
Several macOS services and features can be configured during Setup Assistant to provide a more seamless experience for the user.
Many Setup Assistant panes can be skipped or hidden from the user when using an MDM solution such as Jamf Pro.
