Key Points

The Settings app contains important device information as well as preferences and customization options.

Settings in iOS is functionally and organizationally similar to System Preferences on Mac.

Signing in with an Apple ID allows the use of Apple Services like iCloud and the App Store. Signing in with an Apple ID is optional, but certain features will not be available to the user when not signed in.

Commonly accessed settings, like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Airplane Mode, are immediately available upon opening Settings.

The following information can be found in the General section of Settings:

Device information

The About section includes the name of the device, the software version, capacity, and more.

Software updates

Reset options

Display & Brightness settings can change the device’s appearance, including how text appears.

Wallpapers can be set by a Jamf Pro administrator or from the device.
