LESSON 3 The Cell Organelles Flashcards
contains the majority of the cell’s DNA
Nucleus
is a region found within the nucleus that is concerned with producing and assembling the cell’s ribosomes
Nucleolus
are made of RNA and protein that serves as the sites for protein synthesis in the cell.
Ribosomes
synthesizes, folds, modifies protein molecules within the cell and helps transport them to their destinations
Endoplasmic reticulum (ER)
are membrane-bound cell organelle that generate most of the chemical energy needed to power the cell’s biochemical reactions
Mitochondria
have attached ribosomes that makes it appears rough.
Rough ER
functions includes carbohydrate and lipid synthesis.
Smooth ER
also known as Golgi body or Golgi complex, helps in process and package proteins and lipid molecules, especially proteins for cell export
Golgi Apparatus
membrane-bounded organelle that contains digestive enzymes
Lysosome
a small membrane-enclosed organelle that contains enzymes involved in variety of metabolic reactions
Peroxisome
helps maintain the shape of the cell while also ensuring its elasticity and stability.
Cytoskeleton
stores different substances depending on the type of cell they are in
Vacuole
organize the microtubules and provide a structure to the cell. It pulls the
Centrosome
one of the three cell component necessarily present in a cell
Cytoplasm
serves as a barrier and protects the integrity, and maintains the shape of the cell.
